The Air Cooled Bug blog has been featured in the Total 911, EVO and Octane magazines, on Pistonheads and by Porsche themselves. Interest in our oddball adventure has been a surprise. With this in mind we are following up with a book. It is a work of art – hopefully it won’t turn into the Sagrada Familia and it will eventually be available.
The book will contain route maps in graphic format detailing way points for satellite navigation, suggestions for things to see, and places to stay. Mostly it’ll be full of photographs, a hardback coffee table book and a useful guide for others contemplating shipping a car to the USA for a road trip (and getting it home again).
The routes
Starting in Charleston, South Carolina, it will follow the footsteps of the blog heading North to the Badlands, down through Colorado, across to Palm Springs and Los Angeles.
The return leaves California back though Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana.
It can either be done as one complete loop, or two coast to coast options (which could also be reversed).
It won’t carry the road trip text of the blog, the how to section will be updated with the information on few useful things learnt along the way.
